The Tilta Advanced I/O Module gives the RED V-RAPTOR the ports its body does not have: genlock, timecode, RED CTRL, a 3-pin Fischer Run/Stop and a 14.8 V 2-pin LEMO. It connects through the integrated V-RAPTOR EXT cable and mounts on the top handle, the top plate, the bottom plate or in the slot of the battery plate, which also powers it.

The RED V-RAPTOR body is short on ports. The Advanced I/O Module is an aluminium-alloy housing that connects through the integrated V-RAPTOR EXT cable and extends communication with the camera by genlock, timecode, RED CTRL and a 3-pin Fischer Run/Stop. It has no fixed place — it goes wherever there is room.

Five ports the camera body does not have

The module brings one 14.8 V 2-pin LEMO input/output, one 3-pin Fischer R/S, a timecode port, a RED CTRL port and genlock. The integrated V-RAPTOR EXT cable is not a separate accessory — it is part of the module, so there is nothing between camera and housing that could be left at home.

Genlock, timecode, CTRL and Run/Stop side by side

The RED CTRL port changes camera settings once the Tilta control cable for the SmallHD Indie 7 is plugged in. The 3-pin Fischer R/S triggers and stops recording and at the same time supplies 14.8 V, so a single cable can also power and trigger a Nucleus-M lens motor. Genlock and timecode sit where you expect them — for multi-camera shoots and sound sync.

Contacts at the back, 2-pin LEMO on the side

Contact pads on the back mate with the slot on the Tilta battery plate for the V-RAPTOR, so the module is powered without a single cable. Mounted elsewhere, the side 2-pin LEMO input takes over; power is available wherever the module sits.

Slides into the battery plate and draws power from it

Align the module with the contacts on the Tilta battery plate and slide it into the slot. The plate holds it and powers it. The 2-pin LEMO on the module stays free and delivers 14.8 V for other accessories.

Mounts wherever the build has room

There is more than one mounting position: the module goes on the top handle, the top plate, the cage’s bottom mounting plate or into the battery plate slot. That makes it fit almost any build — on the shoulder, on a gimbal and inside a cramped car.

What to add

Camera control over the RED CTRL port needs the Tilta control cable for the SmallHD Indie 7; it is not included.

Run/Stop over the 3-pin Fischer needs an optional cable — the catalogue carries the Tilta 2-Pin Lemo to 3-Pin Fischer (TCB-2LE-3FS-17) and the Tilta 3-Pin Fischer to 4-Pin Lemo (TCB-3FS-4LE-17).

Only the slot on the Tilta battery plate for the RED V-RAPTOR (ESR-T08-BP-V) powers the module without a cable; elsewhere use the side 2-pin LEMO input.

Compatibility

The manufacturer lists the module for the RED V-RAPTOR and the RED KOMODO-X.

It works with the Full Camera Cage and the Tilta battery plate for the V-RAPTOR.
