Blackmagic 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G connects a camera with an SDI interface to an SMPTE-2110 IP video infrastructure. It connects via 10G Ethernet RJ-45 and can be powered from it with PoE++; it carries SD, HD and Ultra HD up to 2160p60 including the SDI program return. For communication with the control room it has a 5-pin XLR for talkback headphones with microphone, with volume control and a Push to Talk button; a 12V power supply is included.
An SDI Camera in a 10G IP Infrastructure
The compact bidirectional converter carries the camera image and the program return over a single 10G Ethernet cable. It handles talkback, tally and PoE++ power without an optical SFP module.
Video, talkback and power on one cable
The converter is also powered from the 10G Ethernet port with PoE++, so a single Cat6 cable is all the camera needs. For installations without PoE, a 12V power supply is included.

Blackmagic IP10 codec
When converting 12G-SDI rates to 10G 2110 IP video, it uses the low latency IP10 codec.
One box for camera signal and communication
One 12G-SDI input and one 12G-SDI output work with 16 channels of embedded audio. Talkback runs on channels 15/16 in both SDI and 2110 IP video; LED indicators show IP and SDI signal lock and tally status.
Talkback for the camera operator
On the side there is a 5-pin XLR for talkback headphones with microphone plus volume and Push to Talk buttons, so the camera operator talks to the control room without a separate communication converter. The SDI output returns the program image to the camera.
Power from PoE++ or a 12V power supply
The 10G Ethernet RJ-45 port carries 2110 IP video and the converter can draw PoE++ power from it. Alternatively there is a locking 12V DC input; power usage is 18 W. Setup and updates use USB-C.

One side has a 10G Ethernet port with PoE++ for 2110 IP, an IP input lock indicator, USB, a 12V DC power input and a tally indicator; the other side has the SDI output and input, an SDI input lock indicator and a 5-pin XLR for talkback.

Bringing SDI equipment into IP operation
Blackmagic Design offers a wide range of SMPTE-2110 IP video products – converters, video monitors, audio monitors and even cameras. They use 10G Ethernet for Ultra HD work; the miniature 2110 IP Mini models are easy to hide behind equipment, while the rack mount models have an LCD display for monitoring, menus and diagnostics.
Blackmagic 2110 IP converters integrate SDI equipment into an SMPTE ST-2110 infrastructure. The standard specifies the transport, synchronization and description of 10-bit video, audio and ancillary data over IP. The converter can re-sync the SDI input to the PTP clock and supports SD, HD and Ultra HD up to 2160p60. In a network, connections can be managed via NMOS like a virtual router; in simple installations it also works point to point without a complex network switch.
10G Ethernet allows compact and efficient IP products. For uncompressed 10-bit Ultra HD above 30 frames per second, the range uses the open Blackmagic IP10 codec with a low latency of 8 samples and no license fees. This model uses 10G Ethernet RJ-45 and supports PoE++ power.
