Blackmagic 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G SFP connects a camera with SDI to an SMPTE-2110 infrastructure over optical fiber. The SFP slot accepts a 10G Ethernet optical module as well as 3G, 6G and 12G-SDI optical modules; the converter carries SD, HD and Ultra HD up to 2160p60 in both directions, so it handles the camera image and the program return. For communication with the control room it has a 5-pin XLR for talkback and it is powered from the included 12V power supply.

An SDI Camera in an IP Infrastructure via Optical SFP

The small bidirectional converter links a 12G-SDI camera to an IP workflow even over long distances. The optical SFP slot is designed for fiber runs that resist electromagnetic interference.

A fiber run instead of a copper cable

The SFP slot accepts a 10G Ethernet optical module for IP and 3G, 6G and 12G-SDI optical modules for regular SDI. The SFP module and optical fiber are not included.

PTP and NMOS

IEEE 1588 PTP v2 (ST 2059) synchronization and NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 connection management.

Blackmagic IP10 codec

When converting 12G-SDI rates to 10G 2110 IP video, it uses the low latency IP10 codec.

Program return and talkback

The bidirectional design suits cameras: one direction carries the camera image, the other the program return. The five-pin XLR provides talkback between the camera operator and the control room without a separate communication converter; talkback runs on channels 15/16.

An optical model, not a PoE model

This model has a slot for an optical SFP module and is powered from the included 12V power supply; it does not use power over the Ethernet cable (PoE). Choose the SFP module according to the run length and fiber type.

Indicators and setup

LED indicators show IP and SDI signal lock and tally status. The converter detects SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD and 4K DCI automatically and regenerates the SDI signal (reclocking); setup and updates use USB-C 3.0.

Connections

One side has the SFP slot for 2110 IP optical links, an IP input lock indicator, USB, a 12V DC power input and a tally indicator; the other side has the SDI output and input, an SDI input lock indicator and a 5-pin XLR for talkback.
