Blackmagic 2110 IP UpDownCross 12G is a professional standards converter for connecting SMPTE ST 2110 IP video, 12G-SDI and HDMI equipment. This compact unit converts SD, HD and Ultra HD formats, adds a reference input for re-sync and provides redundant power for critical workflows.

UpDownCross 12G unifies video standards in control rooms, OB vans and studios. It converts SD, HD and Ultra HD up to 2160p60, including standards conversion and synchronisation to a reference signal.

Conversion without compromise in a live chain

One 12G-SDI input with loop output, two SDI outputs, HDMI 2.0 input and output, and 10G Ethernet make it possible to join sources across an infrastructure. Multi-rate SDI supports SD, 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G; for 2160p59.94 and 2160p60, the unit uses the Blackmagic IP10 codec over 10G IP.

Precise timing and convenient monitoring

Reference In/Out enables built-in re-sync. SMPTE ST 2110 support includes PTP v2/ST 2059 and NMOS discovery and connection management. The front panel provides a 2.2-inch LCD, spin knob, speaker and 6.35 mm headphone output; USB-C is used for configuration and updates.

Connect conventional and IP infrastructure

The original technical description correctly highlights live-production and broadcast use: the unit bridges established SDI equipment with SMPTE ST 2110 IP systems and works across familiar HD and Ultra HD television standards on one 12G-SDI BNC link.

The IP stream carries 16 channels of embedded audio, SDI uses 16 embedded channels and HDMI uses 8 embedded channels. Blackmagic also specifies access to ST 2110-40 ancillary data including RP 188/SMPTE 12M-2, closed captions and static HDR metadata. Automatic audio delay keeps sound aligned with picture during conversion.
