Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K is a digital film camera with a 6048 × 4032 full frame sensor, active L-Mount, optical low pass filter (OLPF), dual native ISO 400/3200 and 13 stops of dynamic range. It records 12-bit Blackmagic RAW and H.264 proxies to CFexpress Type B media or directly to an external USB-C disk. It suits independent film, commercials, documentaries and content for YouTube and social media.

Full frame 6K for cinematic images without needless rigging

The lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite body is based on the Pocket Cinema Camera platform – handheld for documentaries, on a crane for commercials or vertical for social media.

Generation 5 Color Science

The same Color Science as URSA Mini Pro 12K: accurate skin tones, a dynamic 12-bit gamma curve and images that respond to grading in DaVinci Resolve like film.

Blackmagic Cloud

H.264 proxies upload to Blackmagic Cloud while the camera is still recording, so editors have them in DaVinci Resolve within seconds.

A dedicated button saves 24.6 megapixel stills as Blackmagic RAW – for continuity checks and client approval.

Full frame sensor with optical low pass filter

The 36 × 24 mm sensor is almost three times larger than Super 35, allowing shallow depth of field and uncropped anamorphic lenses. The optical low pass filter is custom designed for this sensor. The camera shoots up to 36 fps at full resolution and up to 120 fps windowed.

Use the frame your shot needs

Open Gate 3:2 uses the complete sensor area for reframing and stabilization. The camera also supports true 6:5 anamorphic capture, 6K 2.4:1 up to 60 fps, Super 16 up to 100 fps and 1080 HD up to 120 fps. The Super 35 window gives an instant close-up that cuts with Open Gate footage.

13 stops and dual native ISO

Dual native ISO 400 and 3200 plus 13 stops of dynamic range help retain low noise from bright daylight to low-light work. ISO 400 suits scenes with set lighting, ISO 3200 dim locations; sensitivity goes up to ISO 25,600.

L-Mount for modern and vintage glass

The active L-Mount’s 51.6 mm diameter and 20 mm flange distance support current Leica, Panasonic and Sigma full frame lenses as well as adapters for other mounts. Iris and focus control are available with supported lenses.

Controls at your fingertips

The handgrip carries the record and stills buttons, ISO, white balance and shutter buttons and an iris scroll wheel under your index finger. Three assignable Fn buttons sit on top; high frame rate, zoom, menu and playback buttons are on the back.

Autofocus with face detection

With compatible L-Mount lenses the camera offers single shot, continuous, object tracking and face tracking autofocus. Tap a face on the screen to track it; tap another face for a focus pull between people.

Monitor directly on the camera

The tilting 5-inch HDR touchscreen reaches 1500 nits and tilts 180° upward and 47° downward. Focus tools, histogram, audio meters, frame guides and 3D LUT monitoring are available on screen.

Connections for custom rigs

Full-size HDMI provides 10-bit HDR output up to 1080p60 with or without overlays; mini XLR inputs provide 48V phantom power for professional microphones. A timecode generator connects to the 3.5 mm input.

CFexpress and external disks

The built-in CFexpress Type B slot is designed for fast Blackmagic RAW recording, while the USB-C expansion port permits direct recording to an external disk. The port runs at up to 5 Gb/s and with a USB-C to Ethernet adapter lets you control the camera over a network via REST API.

Pre-record up to 10 minutes

The camera continuously records to a cache and, when you press record, adds the selected duration from 5 seconds to 10 minutes to the start of the file. Unexpected moments in documentaries, news or live events are not missed.

Battery, 12 V and USB-C power

The camera uses NP-F570 batteries, has a locking 12–20 V 2-pin power input and supports the optional Pocket Cinema Camera Pro EVF and Battery Pro Grip. USB-C can charge the battery from a power bank or laptop; Battery Pro Grip holds two NP-F570 batteries for up to 3 hours of shooting.

Blackmagic RAW and DaVinci Resolve Studio

Blackmagic RAW saves camera settings as metadata, so ISO, white balance and exposure can be changed during grading without loss of quality. The full version of DaVinci Resolve Studio for editing, color, audio and effects is included.
