DaVinci Resolve Studio combines professional editing, advanced color correction, Fusion for visual effects, and Fairlight for audio post-production. This version uses a physical USB dongle: the license is active on the computer to which the dongle is connected.

It overcomes this performance barrier by accelerating calculations via the GPU for real-time processing, even for highly complex projects. DaVinci Resolve Studio offers fantastic performance at a low cost; performance is also scalable by adding additional GPU units for working with 4K resolution, stereoscopic video, or real-time processing of RAW files from Blackmagic Cinema Camera, ARRI, RED, and Sony F65, F55, or F5 cameras. DaVinci Resolve is compatible with Mac OS, Windows, and Linux.

DaVinci Resolve 20
The Studio version introduces support for more than 100 new features and tools powered by artificial intelligence, such as AI IntelliScript for creating a timeline based on a text script, AI Animated Titles for animating words as they are spoken, AI Multicam SmartSwitch, which automatically builds a timeline with camera cuts based on speaker detection, and AI Audio Assistant. The AI Fairlight IntelliCut feature can remove silence and checkerboard dialogue between speakers. Version 20 also includes, for example, significant improvements to the Magic Mask and Depth Map features.
The Cut and Edit pages now include a dedicated keyframe editor and a palette for voice-overs. Also new are vector tools for optical flow and tools for multi-layer compositing in the Fusion tab. In addition, this version features an improved Text+ graphics layout, a new safe trimming mode, grading using the Chroma Color Warp tool, and a new Multitext tool.

License Management
The new Organizations app in Blackmagic Cloud allows larger companies to define a single organization or firm. Customers can now create groups or teams and quickly share projects with the entire group. Users can also manage storage access, share presentations, and set up single sign-on. The new system also allows users to purchase or rent multiple DaVinci Resolve Studio licenses. This simplifies the allocation and management of licenses within large workgroups. Licenses can be allocated to specific projects and removed once those projects are completed.

Cut Section
It features a streamlined interface that’s easy to learn and designed for maximum workflow speed. Features such as “source tape,” dual timelines, quick preview, and smart editing tools help you work faster than ever before. The “sync bin” and “source overwrite” tools make it easy to edit multicam projects. It’s also great for documentaries and now for live production and real-time editing. The Multi Source feature is the fastest way to monitor your cameras and edit on the timeline while the cameras are still recording! On the Cut page, every click performs a specific action—everything is focused on efficiency.

The new voice-over palette offers a preview, voice tools, and a teleprompter to make recording commentary easier. Ripple trimming of audio tracks is now available on secondary audio tracks as well, simplifying audio editing. Multi-angle previews for repeated shots now display previously used camera angles, making it easier to navigate during editing. Tapping the timeline buttons allows camera buttons to play back pre-recorded footage. Automatic media synchronization now also supports still images and sequences. The Live Overwrite feature has been expanded to include support for editing keys and the control wheel. You can now also drag and drop clips with the mouse for live overwrite in multi-source and sync bin modes. The new "Trim with Safe Edit" feature prevents adjacent clips from being overwritten. The metadata palette in the media library provides a quick overview of selected clips. Users can now copy, paste, and remove attributes from clips on the timeline. Support for dynamic editing using the JKL controls has also been added. Audio capabilities are enhanced by a fully featured audio mixing console. Finally, the mini timeline now includes a handy context menu for faster workflow.

Edit Section
The Edit page is the most advanced professional nonlinear editing environment in the world. Thanks to its familiar track layout, dual preview, and traditional workflow, even new users can easily find their way around, while it remains powerful enough for professional editors. It’s ideal for larger projects such as feature films, TV shows, streaming content, commercials, documentaries, and more. The Edit page offers drag-and-drop editing, context-sensitive automatic trimming tools, fully customizable keyboard shortcuts for faster work, and an extensive library of hundreds of titles, transitions, and effects that you can add and animate. It also includes tools for comprehensive media management, organization, and timeline editing. The new voice-over tool allows you not only to record but also to monitor voice recordings. The AI Multicam SmartSwitch feature ensures automatic switching between camera angles using artificial intelligence. AI VoiceConvert technology offers voice conversion using both built-in and user-trainable models. 

Furthermore, version 20 improves keying with a new dedicated curve preview layer and a timeline panel. Folders shared via Blackmagic Cloud can now be imported into the media library. The AI IntelliScript feature can create a timeline based on a script provided by the user. AI Dialogue Matcher automatically aligns pitch, volume, and reverb across individual clips. AI Music Editor edits the music track to match the desired length. AI-powered animated captions highlight or animate spoken words. The AI SuperScale feature now also supports enhanced scaling to 3× and 4× resolutions. AI music beat detection displays the rhythm of a song and allows for beat-aligned editing. A new, optimized interface layout menu for vertical videos is also available. Text+ now includes tools for working with paragraphs, line breaks, and text borders. The new MultiText tool allows you to work with multiple layers and offers easy control over transformations, cropping, and wrapping. Imported PSD files can now be split into individual layers.

Color Section
The Color page offers an incredibly wide range of tools for primary and secondary color grading, including PowerWindows™, qualifiers, motion tracking, advanced tools for HDR grading, and much more.

AI Magic Mask version 2 now includes a brush tool for more precise selections. The AI Resolve FX Depth Map effect has also been improved, allowing for more detailed work with depth information in a scene. The new Chroma Color Warper tool provides advanced color adjustment options. The Resolve FX Warper effect now includes new spline curve controls for more subtle image warping. OpenColorIO is now supported as a Resolve FX, expanding color workflow capabilities. A new, optimized user interface layout for vertical video has also been added. Preview overlays can now be displayed via remote monitoring. When using compatible hardware, it is possible to stream and monitor video in H.265 4:2:2. Support has been added for the Samsung Log color profile and ACES 2.0 color management. Users can generate PDF reports with HDR luminance levels. In multi-user projects, it is now possible to edit LUTs and color spaces.

Fusion Section
Hundreds of tools are available for 2D and 3D visual effects and motion graphics, including advanced animation curve and keyframe editors that allow you to create incredibly natural and realistic animations. Fusion offers everything—from point, area, and 3D camera tracking to rotoscoping and keying tools, all the way to creating photorealistic composites, stunning animated titles, 3D particle systems, and much more.

Fusion now includes a set of tools for working with deep image composites, enabling more precise layering of complex scenes. It supports multi-layer processing of OpenEXR and PSD formats, as well as stereoscopic 3D. A new set of vector deformation tools makes image correction and retouching easier.

Fairlight Section
The Fairlight page offers hundreds of professional tools for audio post-production. It’s like having a full-fledged digital audio workstation (DAW) integrated directly into the editing and color grading system! Fairlight Audio Core technology allows you to work with up to 2,000 audio tracks simultaneously, in real time with applied effects, equalization, and dynamic processing. Tools are available for precise editing at the individual sample level, advanced features for ADR and foley recordings, and Fairlight FX effects such as reverb, de-essing, and hum removal. AI-powered effects, such as voice isolation and music remixing, are also included. Thanks to IntelliTrack AI tracking, you can also use video to track panorama movement in Fairlight. The system supports mixing and mastering not only in stereo but also in 5.1, 7.1, and even 3D audio formats, including fifth-order ambisonics.

The AI Audio Assistant automatically creates a finished mix, significantly speeding up audio post-production. The AI IntelliCut feature can remove silent passages, automatically separate dialogue from individual speakers (checkerboard dialogue), and even generate ADR cue points based on the transcribed speaker. The clip equalizer now offers 6 bands for more precise adjustments. Equalization and volume matching processes allow you to harmonize the tone and level of individual clips. EQ and Gain effects are now also available as standalone Fairlight FX plugins. Another new feature is Fairlight Chain FX, which lets you save and reuse frequently used effect chains.
