A high-end PCI Express card for capture and playback in SD, HD, 2K, 4K and 8K. Four bi-directional 12G-SDI connectors are joined by HDMI 2.1 for 8K60 and high frame rate 4K120. The HDMI 2.1 mezzanine card also adds RS-422 recorder control; the card handles 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 with Rec. 2020 color space and HDR and works with DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro on macOS, Windows and Linux.

Four independent 12G-SDI channels

Every SDI connector can be set as an input or an output. The card works in single, dual and quad link from SD all the way to 8K, and the free DeckLink SDK lets you configure up to four separate video streams in any direction, format or frame rate up to 4K DCI 60p.

For post production and broadcast

For post production and mastering

The card connects cameras, recorders, monitors and mastering displays to DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro or Media Composer. It works with 8 and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all modes and 8, 10 and 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 up to 8Kp30 DCI, with Rec. 601, 709 and 2020 color spaces and HDR metadata for HLG and PQ transfer characteristics.

HDMI 2.1 and RS-422 on the mezzanine card

The supplied mezzanine card carries HDMI 2.1 input and output with 8 audio channels in TMDS and 32 channels in FRL, Dolby Vision support up to Ultra HD and 4K DCI 60p, and an RS-422 output for recorder control. HDMI handles 8K up to 60p and Ultra HD and 4K up to 120p; the highest frame rates are for uncompressed video only.

Installing in a workstation

The card is 164 mm long and weighs 295 g. It uses 8 lane generation 3 PCI Express and also works in x16 slots, occupies two PCI slots and connects to the computer power supply with the supplied external power cable. It works with macOS 15 Sequoia or later, Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11, and Linux.

Audio and sync

The 12G-SDI connectors carry 16 channels of embedded audio in SD, HD and 2K and up to 64 channels in 4K and 8K, always at 48 kHz and 24-bit. The reference input accepts Tri-Sync and Black Burst, and metadata includes RP 188 timecode and closed captioning.

The main card has four bi-directional 12G-SDI connectors and a reference input; the mezzanine card has an RS-422 connector and HDMI 2.1 output and input.

DeckLink 8K Pro G2 is a high performance card for video monitoring and capture with quad link 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.1 connections and 8K support. It supports common digital film and video standards from SD to 8K DCI in up to 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 quality, including Rec. 2020 color space and high dynamic range. The card also handles stereoscopic formats and high frame rate video.

The G2 model additionally comes with a mezzanine card carrying HDMI 2.1 input and output and an RS-422 output. The four 12G-SDI connectors support single, dual and quad link operation and can be used in workflows from classic SD all the way to 8K.

Outstanding image quality
Support for 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 data, Rec. 2020 and HDR preserves the maximum image information for grading, mastering and VFX. 8K resolution gives sixteen times more pixels than HD.

The card works with 10-bit YUV and 12-bit RGB video for demanding professional workflows – 8K up to 60 fps (RGB 4:4:4 up to 8Kp30 DCI) and 4K DCI up to 120 fps.

PCI Express and software
The generation 3 PCIe x8 interface is designed for workstations running Windows, macOS and Linux. The card is ready for DaVinci Resolve Studio and other compatible applications for capture, playback and post production.
