The Blackmagic DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K is a PCI Express input card for capturing video to a computer from cameras, recorders and production outputs via 6G-SDI and HDMI 2.0a. It captures SD, HD and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p30 including HDR, works with OBS, vMix, Wirecast or DaVinci Resolve, and thanks to two brackets it fits both standard and low profile computers.

The inputs detect the format of the connected source automatically and the card passes it to streaming, editing or capture software – for live broadcasts, ingest and outside broadcast trucks.

One SDI input, one HDMI input

The card has a 6G-SDI input on a BNC connector and an HDMI 2.0a type A input; the inputs detect the source format automatically. It takes up to 16 channels of embedded audio from SDI and 8 channels from HDMI. The HDMI input cannot capture copy protected content.

Ultra HD and HDR

The inputs switch automatically between SD, HD, 2K and Ultra HD up to 2160p30 and also handle 4K DCI up to 25p. The card accepts static HDR metadata with HLG and PQ characteristics, 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 up to 1080p60 and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all formats; the software can convert SD to HD and HD to SD during capture.

Low profile, two brackets

The card is 120 mm long and besides the fitted full-height bracket the box includes a low profile bracket, so it fits a standard workstation, a compact computer or a rack server. The PCI Express x4 generation 2 interface works in x4, x8 and x16 slots.

Software included

Desktop Video software includes Media Express, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey, Desktop Video Utility and the driver for macOS and Windows, and Media Express, Desktop Video Utility and the driver for Linux. The card works with DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Media Composer and Photoshop as well as Wirecast, vMix or OBS, and with the Desktop Video SDK you can develop your own capture solution.

Connectors

The bracket carries the HDMI type A input with the 6G-SDI input on a BNC connector below it.

The DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K PCIe capture card offers the same features as the HD model plus support for Ultra HD up to 2160p30 and HDR video. The low profile PCI Express 2.0 x4 card features 6G-SDI and HDMI 2.0a connections.

Thanks to 6G-SDI and HDMI 2.0a it supports high quality 10-bit YUV and 12-bit RGB video, Rec. 2020 and HDR formats including HDR metadata. It is fully compatible with the Blackmagic Desktop Video SDK, making it suitable for users and developers of video applications and systems.

The DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K captures high quality video from SDI and HDMI sources such as decks and cameras. Thanks to its low profile design it can be installed in regular workstations as well as miniature computers used in outside broadcast trucks and control rooms.

It works with uncompressed and compressed video and common formats including QuickTime and DPX. It is compatible with professional applications for editing, color correction and graphics such as DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Media Composer and Photoshop.

Full-height and low profile mounting brackets are included for standard and low profile computers and rack servers.
