Professional control panel in the style of a classic broadcast tape deck. It controls up to eight recorders via RS-422 and features a jog/shuttle search dial, transport controls, a timecode display and recorder-to-recorder editing. Together with a HyperDeck Extreme recorder it forms a workstation where a single operator transfers legacy programs from tape to files.
Classic broadcast recorder controls
HyperDeck Extreme Control adds the buttons of a classic broadcast recorder and a large search dial to HyperDeck Extreme. It controls up to eight recorders via RS-422 and can edit between them.
Archiving with a single operator
Just add a HyperDeck Extreme and a HyperDeck Extreme Control to each legacy tape deck: set the in and out points and programs are transferred to files, even across frame rates.

Eight RS-422 outputs and rows of playback and record buttons 1–8 switch between the connected recorders.
Recorder-to-recorder editing
In and out points, preroll, trim and Entry and Delete buttons for classic editing between recorders.

Traditional broadcast recorder controls
HyperDeck Extreme Control works like a classic broadcast tape deck with a familiar layout. Blackmagic Design developed the buttons and the dial in-house to give them a premium feel and traditional styling. The control panel can be used on a desk or joined with a HyperDeck Extreme recorder into a single rack unit using the rack kit.
Up to eight recorders via RS-422
The rear panel has eight RS-422 outputs (Remote Out 1–8). Rows of Playback and Record buttons 1–8 select which recorder plays and which records, and the Player and Recorder buttons switch what you are controlling. The Sony RS-422 protocol also controls legacy broadcast tape decks.
Recorder-to-recorder editing
The IN and OUT buttons set the in and out points, Entry and Delete store or remove them and the Trim buttons nudge the points. Preroll, Edit and Skip complete a classic edit from the source recorder to the record recorder, even between different frame rates when converting formats.
Large search dial
The large jog/shuttle dial feels great to use, and the Shuttle, Jog and Position buttons switch its mode. The 8 digit, 7 segment LED display shows timecode (hours, minutes, seconds, frames) and the REF, SERVO and REMOTE indicators show sync and control status.
Archiving legacy programs
Just add a HyperDeck Extreme and a HyperDeck Extreme Control to each legacy tape deck and a single operator can keep several workstations archiving constantly. The control panel works with a wide range of tape decks including Digital Betacam, 1″ C format and Betacam SP; Teranex Express converts tapes from SD to HD in one step.
Reference, network and power
The reference input accepts tri-sync or black burst and the reference output passes it on. 1 Gb/s Ethernet and USB-C are used for networking and software updates. It is powered from the 100–240 V AC input or from the 4 pin XLR 12 V DC input, for example from a battery.
Connections and controls
The top panel has in and out points, playback and record select, transport controls, Trim buttons, Player/Recorder mode select, the timecode display, the search dial and its mode select.
The rear panel has an AC power input, a DC power input, Ethernet, USB-C, reference in and out and eight RS-422 outputs for recorder control.

Traditional control of up to eight recorders
HyperDeck Extreme Control extends HyperDeck Extreme with the traditional controls of professional video recorders. Using the industry standard RS-422 protocol it can control up to eight units and quickly select the recorder, transport mode and exact position with the metal jog/shuttle search dial.
The control panel can also work with legacy broadcast tape decks, set in and out points and perform simple edits between recorders. Together with HyperDeck Extreme it lets a single operator continuously transfer legacy programs to modern files, including standards conversion.
Reference in and out keep the equipment in sync, 1 Gb/s Ethernet is used for network control and USB-C for updates. The control panel can be used on a desk or joined with a compatible unit in a rack.
