Designed for the desktop
HyperDeck Shuttle is operated with one hand: the gentle angle lets your palm rest on the search dial with the buttons right under your fingertips. The metal dial with its soft rubber surface has natural inertia, so you get through long material fast. All video, audio and network connections are on the rear panel.
Mastering recorder and clip player
With ATEM Mini switchers it records broadcast masters in ProRes, H.264 or DNxHD with PCM or AAC audio, ready for broadcasters and for YouTube. As a player it rolls commercials, promos or music videos into live production, and ATEM switchers control it over Ethernet.
Broadcast recorder controls
Press the record button and the recorder starts recording the input to a file in the format set in the menu. The previous and next clip buttons cue the start of a clip for air, the Clip button stops playback at the end of the clip, and the dial works in jog, scroll and shuttle modes, with shuttle even allowing slow motion playback.
SD cards and external USB-C disks
HyperDeck Shuttle records to common UHS-I and UHS-II SD cards and via USB-C to external disks, non-stop when using multiple disks. A disk can be moved straight to the edit suite without copying, and SSDs can be added with a Blackmagic MultiDock 10G. Media is formatted as ExFAT or HFS+.
ProRes, DNxHD and H.264
The HD model records ProRes and DNxHD up to 1080p60 and space saving H.264 in NTSC, PAL, 720p, 1080p and true interlaced 1080i. A 1 TB card holds up to 157 hours of H.264 in 1080p59.94. Audio is stored as uncompressed PCM or AAC, and long events can be recorded into a single file.
Built in teleprompter
Switch HyperDeck Shuttle to teleprompter mode in the record menu and it reads standard RTF and TXT files. The previous and next clip buttons move between scripts, and pressing jog and scroll together lets you scroll the text with the dial like a traditional teleprompter. Size, color, font weight and alignment are taken from the file.
Network control and file transfer
Over 1 Gb/s Ethernet the recorder can be controlled remotely with a simple text protocol and files can be uploaded via FTP. ATEM switchers control it over the network as a clip source, and besides external recording the USB-C port is used for configuration and updates.
Connections and controls
On the top there are transport controls, menu buttons, media status indicators and a search dial.
The rear has a DC power input, SD card slot, Ethernet, USB-C for external recording and HDMI in and out.

Desktop recorder, clip player and teleprompter
HyperDeck Shuttle HD is a desktop recorder and player designed for comfortable one-handed operation. Traditional transport controls and a large metal search dial speed up recording, playback and clip searching, and the design fits nicely next to an ATEM Mini Extreme switcher on the desk.
It records to SD/UHS-II cards and external USB-C disks as H.264, ProRes and DNxHD files in SD, 720p, 1080i and 1080p up to 60 frames per second and in 2K DCI up to 30p. It supports uncompressed PCM or AAC audio and ExFAT or HFS+ media.
The HDMI input accepts a signal from a camera or switcher, and the HDMI output connects a monitor, projector or ATEM Mini. 1 Gb/s Ethernet allows remote control and file transfer, and besides external recording the USB-C port is also used for updates.
The built in teleprompter works with RTF and TXT files and keeps common text formatting. The search dial controls the scroll speed and the previous and next clip buttons move between prepared scripts, so no specialized teleprompter software is needed.
Blackmagic OS provides fast menus, media management, timecode and networking. The unit can work as a master recorder, a player for commercials and jingles or a compact ingest station for a small studio.
