The Blackmagic Media Player is a solution for recording and playback from Thunderbolt-equipped computers, specifically designed for playback in control rooms or large broadcast systems. However, it does much more than just receive and send video, as users also get 10G Ethernet and computer power, as well as two 12G-SDI Fill/Key outputs, 12G-SDI recording, and 10G Ethernet for accessing network storage and powering a laptop via a single Thunderbolt connection. There’s also a dedicated Thunderbolt port on the front panel, so users can simply walk up and connect their laptop. It also supports all DeckLink API features.

The DaVinci Resolve 19 editing section includes new, powerful media player, editing, and replay features. DaVinci Resolve handles common video file formats, so users can play back any files their clients provide. For broadcast graphics, DaVinci Resolve 19 can play back video files that have an alpha channel.

The Blackmagic Media Player includes everything users need for media playback in a broadcast environment. It can be easily placed on a desk or mounted on a stand using Blackmagic Design’s universal mounting adapter. The front LCD display shows video status information, audio meters, and more. The audio meter can also be switched between VU and PPM scales. There is also a headphone jack, a speaker, and a button to turn on the speaker.

The Blackmagic Media Player features a high-speed Thunderbolt interface for video recording and playback, as well as 10G Ethernet and laptop power delivery—all via a single cable. There are Thunderbolt ports on both the front and rear panels, allowing users to connect either desktop computers to the rack or laptops. The Blackmagic Media Player uses the DeckLink API, so it works with virtually all video software. Additionally, the Thunderbolt connection is bidirectional, allowing users to capture, process, and play back video in real time.
