Blackmagic Mini Converter Audio to SDI embeds 4 channels of balanced analog audio or 8 channels of digital AES/EBU into an SDI signal. It is ideal for adding audio from a mixing desk, an analog recorder or other studio equipment to an SD/HD/3G-SDI line. It has a redundant SDI input and reclocking and works with all SD and HD formats up to 1080p60.
Professional audio into SDI
Embed separate studio audio directly into the SDI signal without a large control room setup. The converter accepts 4 analog channels or 8 AES/EBU channels and embeds them into the SD/HD/3G-SDI output.
4 analog or 8 AES/EBU channels
Each of the four jacks carries one analog channel or a pair of AES/EBU channels. Audio is embedded at 48 kHz and 24 bit.

Four analog channels or eight AES/EBU
The converter embeds up to 4 channels of balanced analog audio or up to 8 channels of digital AES/EBU into the SDI signal. Each of the four jacks carries either one analog channel or a pair of AES/EBU channels (1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8).
Redundant SDI input
In addition to the main SDI input, the converter has a redundant ALT SDI input. If the main signal is lost, for example when a cable is damaged, the converter automatically switches over to the redundant input and the SDI output with audio keeps running.
Standard jack connectors
Audio connects via standard 1/4 inch jacks, so no custom cables are needed. Sampling at 48 kHz and 24 bit matches the television standard, and the audio stays in sync with the picture.
SD and HD up to 1080p60
The multi-rate 3G-SDI input detects SD, HD and level B 3G-SDI automatically and works with all SD, HD and 2K DCI formats. Reclocking stabilizes the output signal, so the converter fits existing SD and HD equipment.

Mini Converter Audio to SDI is the ideal converter for audio embedding into SD and HD-SDI when you don’t need Ultra HD. For 6G-SDI and Ultra HD there is the Mini Converter Audio to SDI 4K model.
Setup with mini switches or over USB
Functions are selected with mini switches using the diagram printed on the converter: analog audio or AES/EBU, sample rate conversion, the channel group in SDI that the audio is embedded into and disabling individual channels. Over USB and the utility for macOS and Windows, settings can be changed from a computer and new software installed.
For the sound control room and the studio
The Mini Converter range of converters is built for 24/7 operation: the compact metal body fits into a rack in the sound control room, in the studio or in an outside broadcast truck. The connections are easy to reach and use standard cables.
