Blackmagic Mini Converter SDI to Analog 4K converts SD, HD, 3G and 6G-SDI to analog component SD/HD video, S-Video and composite PAL/NTSC. Built-in down conversion even connects an Ultra HD signal to analog HD or SD devices. The converter has a redundant SDI input and a loop output and de-embeds SDI audio to balanced analog outputs or AES/EBU.

Down conversion from Ultra HD

The converter turns an Ultra HD signal into component HD or into SD for S-Video and composite video. The 6G-SDI input detects SD, HD, 3G and 6G-SDI automatically.

Analog monitors

View an Ultra HD signal even on a monitor with a component input.

Archive recorders

Record the program to Betacam SP or VHS.

De-embedded audio

De-embed SDI audio to analog outputs or AES/EBU.

Loop output

The SDI signal continues on to further equipment.

Component, S-Video and composite

Three BNC connectors provide component Y, B-Y, R-Y video in SD and HD, S-Video (Y/C) or composite PAL and NTSC. The analog output works in 525i59.94 NTSC, 625i50 PAL, 720p, 1080i and 1080p up to 30 frames per second.

From SD to Ultra HD

The multi-rate 6G-SDI input accepts SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD up to 2160p30 and 4K DCI up to 25p. Built-in down conversion turns high resolutions into a format the analog device can handle.

Redundant SDI input

In addition to the main SDI input, the converter has a redundant ALT SDI input. If the main signal is lost, for example when a cable is damaged, the converter automatically switches over to the redundant input. The SDI loop output passes the input signal on.

Audio to separate outputs

The converter de-embeds the audio embedded in the SDI signal to two channels of balanced analog audio on 1/4 inch jacks or to digital AES/EBU (left connector). Sampling at 48 kHz and 24 bit is preserved.

Setup with mini switches or over USB

Functions are selected with mini switches using the diagram printed on the converter: analog audio or AES/EBU, 7.5 IRE or 0 IRE level, SMPTE or Betacam levels, component or composite/S-Video output and the audio channel pair 1 and 2 to 15 and 16. Over USB and the utility for macOS and Windows, settings can be changed from a computer and new software installed.

For archives and live work

Connect analog monitors, Betacam SP and VHS decks or other analog equipment even to Ultra HD production. The converter belongs to the 6G-SDI Mini Converter range; for SD and HD there is the more affordable Mini Converter SDI to Analog.

In the rack, in the truck and outdoors

The Mini Converter range of converters is built for 24/7 operation: the compact metal body fits into a studio rack, an outside broadcast truck or a live sports event outdoors. The connections are easy to reach and use standard cables.

Connections

One side has three BNC connectors for analog video (Y or NTSC/PAL, B-Y or S-Video Y, R-Y or S-Video C) and two audio jacks (left for analog or AES/EBU, right for analog), the other the SDI loop output, the redundant ALT SDI input, the SDI input and the power input.
