SmartView 4K is a professional Ultra HD monitor with 12G-SDI inputs compatible with virtually all SD, HD and Ultra HD standards up to 2160p60. It also supports a range of advanced features (H/V delay, blue only display, 3D LUT correction and more), and thanks to both AC and DC (12 V) power it works equally well in the studio and on location shoots.
Native Ultra HD monitoring in 6 RU
SmartView 4K offers a 15.6″ 3840 × 2160 panel, two 12G-SDI inputs and professional picture tools for SD, HD, Ultra HD and 4K DCI up to 2160p60.
SDI monitoring wherever you need it
SmartView monitors mount in racks, broadcast trucks and flight cases, switch the input format automatically and can all be set up from one computer via Ethernet.
Full Ultra HD resolution
The 3840 × 2160 panel displays every pixel of an Ultra HD image up to 2160p60, all the way to the edges without overscan.
3D LUTs for preview
Loaded 3D LUTs convert a log or HDR signal to the correct display or add a creative look.
Focus and framing tools
Focus peaking, zoom, frame guides, H/V delay and blue only display on dedicated buttons.
AC and 12 V DC
Internal 100–240 V AC power supply and a 12 V DC input for a battery or backup power.
Full Ultra HD resolution
The 3840 × 2160 panel displays every pixel of an Ultra HD input even at 60p, which suits fast motion in sports. The SDI inputs detect the format and switch instantly – from SD and HD-SDI through 3G and 6G up to 12G-SDI.
Teranex processing
The built in Teranex processor with patented PixelMotion technology de-interlaces and scales SD and HD sources to the native panel resolution. The result is a resolution change without distracting artifacts and a smooth picture.
H/V delay and blue only display
The H/V delay function shifts the image left and down, so you can see the data in the SDI blanking intervals – embedded audio, captions or VITC. Blue only display is used to check hue and noise, and adjustable markers help with aligning elements in the picture.
3D LUTs for calibration and preview
The monitor loads custom 3D LUTs for calibration or for converting log gamma to linear. You switch between LUTs with a single button, which camera operators on set will especially appreciate.
Front panel and Ethernet control
Backlit front panel buttons give access to input selection, brightness, focus peaking, zoom, 3D LUTs, H/V delay, blue only display and frame guides. Via Ethernet with loop through, all monitors can be controlled from a Mac or Windows computer and settings copied between them.
Rack, VESA and backup power
The 6 RU metal chassis mounts in a 19″ rack or via VESA mounting points on an arm or wall; the connections are on the side, which keeps the monitor thin. The combination of AC and 12 V DC inputs allows operation from mains power as well as from a battery. The SFP cage accepts an optional SMPTE optical SDI module.

The front panel has buttons for input selection, display, H/V delay, blue only display, zoom, focus peaking, two 3D LUTs, horizontal and vertical markers, arrows and a power switch. On the side you will find the tally connector, SFP cage for an optical module, SDI output, SDI inputs A and B, two Ethernet ports, USB, a 12 V DC input and the AC power input.

SmartView 4K is a professional Ultra HD monitor with a native 3840 × 2160 resolution, a high brightness LCD panel, wide viewing angles and advanced features such as 3D LUT support, user adjustable markers, H/V delay and blue only display. The monitor features 12G-SDI inputs that switch automatically between SD, HD and Ultra HD standards up to 2160p60. Thanks to wide standards support the monitor is future proof, and alongside Ultra HD resolution it also offers an attractive thin design.
Teranex algorithms
When monitoring SD, 720 HD or 1080 HD sources, the built in Teranex processor with patented PixelMotion technology automatically de-interlaces and scales the video to native Ultra HD resolution. The result is visually transparent video and a resolution change without unwanted artifacts.
Post production features
The monitor is designed for mounting in equipment racks (it takes up 6 RU) and is made from a strong metal alloy. The front panel has controls for 3D LUTs, H/V delay, blue only display for checking color and image noise, and adjustable markers. The often overlooked H/V delay function lets engineers see data and signals hidden in the horizontal and vertical blanking intervals, such as embedded audio, captions or VITC timing signals.
Versatile
Blackmagic SmartView 4K runs from standard AC mains power, but it can also be powered from 12 V DC sources such as batteries. This means it can be used in studios as well as on location shoots. The metal body has VESA mounting points, so besides rack mounting it can also be placed on articulated arms or on a control room wall. The monitor also has a slot for an optional SMPTE optical SDI input for connecting camera fiber links without additional conversion accessories; an optical connection is more reliable than conventional cabling, especially with 12G-SDI.
DC and AC power
The monitor can be controlled not only from the front panel but also remotely via the built in Ethernet port and software for Windows and macOS. On shoots, users will especially appreciate switching 3D LUTs with a single button and DC power – the monitor can be powered from a battery and used even where mains power is not available.
