Blackmagic Design SmartView 4K G3 is an Ultra HD broadcast monitor with both 12G-SDI and SMPTE-2110 IP inputs. The rack mount monitor connects directly to IP broadcast systems as well as professional 12G-SDI equipment up to 2160p60, which makes it ideal for broadcast and live production. It offers 3D LUTs, focus peaking, H/V delay, blue only display, frame guides and safe area display.

SmartView 4K G3 connects 12G-SDI equipment and SMPTE-2110 IP facilities up to 2160p60. It adds full Ultra HD display, 3D LUTs and practical tools for accurate focus and framing to a 19″ rack.

SDI monitoring wherever you need it

SmartView monitors mount in racks, broadcast trucks and flight cases, switch the input format automatically and can all be set up from one computer via Ethernet.

Full Ultra HD resolution

The 3840 × 2160 panel displays every pixel of an Ultra HD image up to 2160p60, all the way to the edges without overscan.

3D LUTs for preview

Loaded 3D LUTs convert a log or HDR signal to the correct display or add a creative look.

Focus and framing tools

Focus peaking, zoom, frame guides, H/V delay and blue only display on dedicated buttons.

AC and 12 V DC

Internal 100–240 V AC power supply and a 12 V DC input for a battery or backup power.

IP, SDI and monitoring in one rack monitor

SmartView 4K G3 has built in optical and copper SMPTE-2110 IP connections, so it connects directly to IP video systems. Two 12G-SDI inputs connect a wide range of professional equipment, and the selected 12G-SDI or 2110 input can be sent to the 12G-SDI loop output. You switch between SDI and IP with a single button.

Ultra HD panel without overscan

The full resolution Ultra HD LCD displays every pixel of the input image. For broadcast it locks quickly onto a new source even when a router switches often, and unlike a television it does not overscan the image, so you see all pixels right to the edge. The control buttons below the panel are slightly tilted, so you never need to touch the display.

Picture checks right from the front panel

Dedicated buttons give access to input selection, brightness, H/V delay, blue only display and zoom. Overlays include picture and title safe area, four independent frame guides (two vertical and two horizontal) and focus peaking with its own button – helping when working with cameras and when checking aspect ratios.

Tally border for on air status

SmartView 4K G3 supports the Blackmagic SDI Tally Protocol and illuminates a border around the image – red for on air, green for preview. With ATEM switchers a single BNC cable carries both picture and tally. A tally input with a 9-pin D connector is also available.

NMOS and virtual routing

SmartView 4K G3 is fully SMPTE-2110 compliant over optical fiber as well as 10G copper Ethernet: it supports uncompressed SMPTE-2110-20, the Blackmagic IP codec for high frame rate Ultra HD, SMPTE-2110-21, -30 and -40. Thanks to NMOS (IS-04 and IS-05), 2110 devices work as one large virtual router, and Videohub Smart Control can act as an NMOS controller on a 2110 network.

Strong aluminum chassis and dual power

The machined aluminum chassis is only a few centimeters deep and leaves space behind the monitor for rack ventilation; the video connections and VESA mounting points are on the rear. The internal 100–240 V AC power supply is complemented by a 12 V DC input for a battery or backup power if the internal supply fails.

The front panel has buttons for input selection, display, H/V delay, blue only display, zoom, focus peaking, two 3D LUTs, horizontal and vertical markers, arrows and a power switch. On the side you will find the tally connector, SDI output, SDI inputs A and B, 10G Ethernet and the optical 2110 IP input, USB, a 12 V DC input and the AC power input.
