Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Mini Monitor 12G is a compact Thunderbolt 4 output for professional monitoring over HDMI 2.0 and 12G-SDI. It delivers pictures up to Ultra HD 2160p60 and a pair of SDI outputs for fill and key graphics. It suits previewing from editing and color applications such as DaVinci Resolve as well as keying broadcast graphics into a switcher, and it is powered directly by the computer.

SDI and HDMI in one small body

HDMI 2.0 makes it easy to connect a television or projector, while 12G-SDI feeds a professional monitor and broadcast graphics with separate fill and key. This model is output only – Mini Recorder 12G is for capture, Mini Replay 12G for capture and playback.

Fill and key for broadcast graphics

Connect the two 12G-SDI outputs to a switcher that keys graphics with transparency over live video. The interface has hardware support for RGBA and YUVA frame buffers and automatically converts RGBA graphics to 10-bit YUV 4:2:2:4 on both fill and key outputs, so the edges of transparent elements blend smoothly. Ideal for titles, broadcast graphics and stingers.

Graphics from tools you already know

Mini Monitor 12G works with Fusion, integrated in DaVinci Resolve, as well as Adobe After Effects and Photoshop. Desktop Video also supports playout and titling software such as CasparCG, vMix, Resolume Arena, ProPresenter and NewBlue Titler Pro.

True 10-bit broadcast video

10-bit video represents every color with four times the precision of 8-bit video and is the most widely used television standard. The SDI output handles 8, 10 and 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 up to 2160p30 and 8 and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all formats, including HDR metadata with HLG and PQ characteristics.

Three models in the UltraStudio Mini 12G range

Mini Monitor 12G only plays back from the computer, Mini Recorder 12G only captures from 12G-SDI and HDMI, and Mini Replay 12G handles 12G-SDI capture and playback at the same time. All three work in SD, HD and Ultra HD up to 2160p60.

Connections

One side has the 12G-SDI fill and key outputs on BNC connectors and an HDMI 2.0 output, the opposite side a Thunderbolt 4 port for data and power.

Dimensions and weight

The body measures 148 × 66 × 25 mm and weighs 230 g, taking up minimal space on the desk next to the computer.
