Universal Videohub 288 is a professional 18RU rack frame for large broadcast installations. It takes up to 72 BNC SDI or optical fiber SDI interface cards and, depending on the required size and redundancy, one or two crosspoint cards. Fully loaded, it offers up to 288 3G-SDI inputs, 288 outputs and 288 bidirectional RS-422 deck control ports.

The 18 RU frame takes 72 interface cards, one 72 × 72 crosspoint card or two 288 × 288 cards and up to two power cards.

24/7 reliability

A second crosspoint card and a second power card make a fully redundant router. You can start with one card and add redundancy later.

Each card carries 4 inputs, 4 outputs and a port for 4 deck control connections.

Hot swap

Interface cards are swapped without powering down the router.

Start small and expand

The frame ships unpopulated, so the number and type of inputs and outputs are set by the interface cards you add. A 72 × 72 crosspoint card is the affordable start, a 288 × 288 card uses the whole frame: 288 SDI inputs and outputs and 288 RS-422 ports for controlling decks.

SDI and fiber in one router

BNC SDI and optical fiber SDI cards can be mixed freely in the frame, routing from SDI to fiber and vice versa. Optical fiber carries signals over long distances, which is ideal for large facilities and large scale events.

Automatic SDI switching

3G-SDI connections automatically switch between SD, HD, 4:4:4 and 2K, and each input can run a different standard. The router also carries DVB-ASI and 16 channels of embedded SDI audio, and all outputs are reclocked.

Two frame sizes, the same cards

Interface cards are all the same size and fit both Universal Videohub 72 and 288. If you start with the smaller frame, you take the interface cards with you to the larger one; each frame has its own power.

Control from a computer or panel

The router is controlled by free Videohub software for Mac and Windows and by Videohub hardware panels shared over an IP network. The RS-422 input accepts switching commands from other systems, and the Videohub SDK is used for integration into broadcast automation.

Connections and controls

The center of the frame holds slots for two crosspoint cards and two power cards, with 36 interface card slots on each side.

Dimensions 482 × 150.77 × 798.8 mm (W × D × H), weight 23.48 kg. It occupies 18 RU in a 19″ rack.
