Universal Videohub 72 is a 5RU unpopulated rack frame for growing studios and control rooms. Its 18 slots take any mix of BNC SDI and optical fiber SDI interface cards, so the system can be expanded step by step. A fully loaded frame offers up to 72 3G-SDI inputs and 72 reclocked outputs plus 72 bidirectional RS-422 deck control ports. The crosspoint card, interface cards and power are sold separately.

A router that grows with you

Start with a few cards and add more while working live. Interface cards are the same for the 72 and 288 frames, so you keep using them when moving to the larger frame.

Interface cards

Each card carries 4 inputs, 4 outputs and a port for 4 deck control connections.

Hot swap

Interface cards are swapped without powering down the router.

Power

450 W power card for up to three external 12 V power supplies; two are enough for 72 × 72, the third is a backup.

Reference

Black Burst or Tri-Level Sync for all SD, HD and optical connections.

What the router is made of

The frame comes with a removable fan tray. You add the 72 × 72 crosspoint card with Ethernet control, BNC SDI or optical fiber SDI interface cards, a power card with power supplies and deck control cables to match the router size you need.

SDI and fiber in one router

BNC SDI and optical fiber SDI cards can be mixed freely in the frame, routing from SDI to fiber and vice versa. Optical fiber carries signals over long distances, which is ideal for large facilities and large scale events.

Automatic SDI switching

3G-SDI connections automatically switch between SD, HD, 4:4:4 and 2K, and each input can run a different standard. The router also carries DVB-ASI and 16 channels of embedded SDI audio, and all outputs are reclocked.

Control from a computer or panel

The router is controlled by free Videohub software for Mac and Windows and by Videohub hardware panels shared over an IP network. The RS-422 input accepts switching commands from other systems, and the Videohub SDK is used for integration into broadcast automation.

Connections and controls

The center of the frame holds the power card and the crosspoint card slots, with nine slots for SDI or optical fiber SDI interface cards on each side.

Dimensions and weight

Dimensions 482 × 160.8 × 221.05 mm (W × D × H), weight 6.4 kg. It occupies 5 RU in a 19″ rack.
