100G backbone for broadcast IP
Ethernet Switch 820 brings eight independent 100G QSFP28 links into a quiet 1RU design. Route SMPTE 2110 from the front panel while keeping high-speed and control cabling together at the rear of the rack.
Route IP without multicast complexity
The built-in 2.2-inch colour display, three controls and search dial provide a familiar broadcast-style way to select sources, destinations and menu settings. The switch handles multicast configuration in the background and displays live port-speed graphs through its 2110 IP monitor output.
Timing and control stay isolated
A dedicated NMOS control network separates discovery and connection management from video and audio traffic. Two redundant PTP Ethernet inputs maintain the common timing reference even if a clock connection fails; a separate management port is reserved for configuration, monitoring and firmware updates.
Built for an orderly 2110 rack
Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 820 is a high-performance, low-latency model for advanced broadcast systems. All network connections sit on the rear panel, on the same side as broadcast equipment, so cables can be routed neatly, kept out of sight and protected. The professional front-to-back cooling path uses six fans for redundancy, while dual redundant power supplies support dependable operation near equipment in broadcast trucks and compact racks.
Eight independent 100G QSFP28 connections can link equipment such as HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G and Blackmagic Cloud Store Ultra, or form an SMPTE-2110 network with ATEM Constellation IP switchers and other IP devices. Two separate 10G Ethernet ports provide a practical connection for computers and compatible equipment.
The dedicated NMOS control Ethernet connection prevents control traffic from competing with video and audio data. NMOS provides standardized discovery, registration and management of IP devices, so new SMPTE-2110 equipment can become available for routing without manual configuration. Redundant PTP ports accept two clock connections for accurate video, audio and data timing; if one source fails, the other maintains synchronization.
