The Blackmagic Media Dock Ultra is a new high-performance dock for Blackmagic Media Modules featuring two fully independent 100G Ethernet ports. It also offers SDI and HDMI status monitoring and synchronization with Blackmagic Cloud, which allows Blackmagic Media Modules to be used as extremely powerful removable storage.
Network storage for film and live production
Three modules, two independent 100G networks
Blackmagic Media Dock Ultra gives edit suites, DIT carts and HyperDeck recorders direct access to up to three Blackmagic Media Modules from URSA Cine cameras—without lengthy media copies.
Separated data traffic and monitoring
Each 100G port has its own IP address and subnet mask. One can serve a HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G while the other connects a network switch and workstations. Two SDI outputs and one HDMI output show live storage, sync, user and data-transfer status.
Built for collaborative work
The dock shares media via SMB and NFS for HFS+ formatted modules with up to 200 computers. Blackmagic Cloud Setup Utility handles configuration, updates and cloud sync, letting a local cache connect on-set and remote teams.
Storage that keeps pace with the footage
Blackmagic Media Dock models use the same high speed media modules as Blackmagic URSA Cine cameras, giving you high performance storage that can be removed immediately. This is ideal for editing URSA Cine footage directly from the modules without copying files, and for HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G recording when media must leave with the production.
Blackmagic Media Dock Ultra has a rack design for up to three Blackmagic Media Modules. Each module contains four M.2 flash cards in RAID 0 for exceptional speed. Illuminated LED rings around the bays show reads and writes, while front-to-back cooling with multiple fans provides redundancy and quiet operation. Dual redundant power supplies improve production reliability.
Creative teams can share a single local cache of media synchronized to Blackmagic Cloud. Files are available to everyone on the local network without downloading from the internet, and multiple docks at different locations can use a local copy of the same media files.
For DIT and post-production workflows, multiple DaVinci Resolve workstations get immediate access to recorded files on set. HDMI and SDI monitoring shows the storage map, capacity, individual user reads and writes, Ethernet transfer graphs and Blackmagic Cloud sync status.
Paired with HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G, one 100G port can connect the recorder and the other a network switch with edit suites. DaVinci Resolve can work with the footage while it is recording, supporting a fast live replay workflow.
