The DZOFILM Marlin 1.6× Expander connects a PL-mount cine lens to an ARRI PL camera. The optical module increases both the image circle and the effective focal length by 1.6×, making it particularly suitable for using Super 35 lenses on Full Frame or VistaVision sensors.

The manufacturer specifies five optical elements in two groups, an approximate light loss of 1.5 EV, and an aluminum alloy construction with stainless steel mount rings. For this PL-to-PL version, the manufacturer explicitly states that back-focus adjustment via the adjustment ring is unavailable; lens compatibility must therefore be checked in advance.

What 1.6× does to the image

Important PL-to-PL compatibility

The PL-to-PL version does not support adjustment-ring back-focus calibration. Rear protrusion from the PL lens flange must be less than 19.64 mm; verify the exact lens before mounting.
