A six-inch touchscreen Feelworld monitor that records while it monitors. It takes the camera feed in over HDMI 2.0 (up to 4K 60 Hz) or 3G-SDI, shows it on a 1920 × 1080 IPS panel and writes it to a USB flash drive as MP4 at up to 1080p30 — optionally with the LUT already baked in. Both inputs loop through; waveform, vector scope, histogram, false colour and up to fifty custom .cube tables are on board. The body is 23 mm thin and weighs 230 g.

The CUT6S is the first Feelworld monitor to combine monitoring and recording. The six-inch IPS panel runs 1920 × 1080 pixels at 8-bit colour depth and 16.7 million colours; 450 cd/m² and a 1000:1 contrast ratio make it an indoor and open-shade monitor rather than one for harsh sun.

The body is 23 mm thin and weighs 230 grams, so it rides on a camera or a gimbal without upsetting the balance. Colour is calibrated to the Rec.709 standard.

Recording to a USB flash drive, with the LUT already applied

MP4 up to 1080p30 from the HDMI input

This is what sets the CUT6S apart from ordinary field monitors: it records the camera feed onto a USB flash drive as MP4 at up to 1080p30. Plug in a FAT32-formatted drive and tap the red record key. Running time depends on the capacity of the drive — an hour of a live show takes roughly 1860 MB.

With the LUT switched on, the file is recorded with the look already baked in. For simple material — behind-the-scenes cuts, social media content — that removes the whole step of applying a LUT in post.

It also helps with live streams from a PTZ camera, which cannot record on its own. Instead of pulling the stream back off the platform or out of OBS, you have a clean camera feed ready to edit.

The whole menu is driven by touch

The interface is new and icon-based — functions open with a tap and a swipe rather than by walking through lists. A double tap opens the main menu, a swipe up from the bottom edge brings out the shortcut menu. The left half of the screen acts as a backlight slider, the right half as a volume slider. A tap beside the menu closes it.

If you would rather not use touch, or you are wearing gloves, the scroll wheel on the top edge does the same job. Touch can be locked with the TOUCH button so that handling the rig does not disturb it.

A red record key and the elapsed time sit at the top of the screen. After about a minute they hide themselves so as not to get in the way; a tap anywhere brings them back.

Inputs and outputs for both interfaces

HDMI 2.0 up to 4K 60 Hz and 3G-SDI, both looping through

Input and output are both dual. HDMI 2.0 accepts up to 3840 × 2160 and 4096 × 2160 at 60 Hz on the way in, while the HDMI 1.4 output passes on up to 1080p60. Alongside it sits 3G-SDI in and out, so the monitor drops in between a cine camera, a DSLR or a mirrorless body and sends the signal onward to the director or to a recorder.

Audio embedded in HDMI is recorded together with the picture and monitored on the 3.5 mm headphone jack. LUT files and firmware updates travel in on a micro SD card.

A three-speed fan sits inside. A note from the manufacturer: with a 1080i signal one pixel is missing at the edge of the image — it only shows on framed panoramas.

SDI to HDMI, and the LUT on the output

The monitor can take a signal in over SDI and pass it out over HDMI and SDI at the same time, so more people on set see the picture without a separate converter. Switching between the HDMI and SDI inputs takes about three frames, which is effectively seamless.

With the LUT switched on, the look also travels out over HDMI. On a live stream you send on a picture with a cinematic feel; on set you can send it wirelessly to the director or the client without waiting for post.

Tools for precise exposure and focus

Up to fifty custom 3D LUTs

The tool set covers waveform, RGB parade, vector scope, histogram (Y, RGB and Y+RGB), an embedded-audio display, focus peaking, zebra, false colour, zoom, safe-area markers, a nine grid, image flip and anamorphic de-squeeze. Every scope can be switched on at once with a single touch in All Scopes mode.

A log-to-Rec.709 conversion is built in, and up to fifty custom .cube tables can be loaded from a micro SD card alongside it. That puts the target look in front of you while you are still shooting.

For HDR there are HLG2020, HLG709 and HLG P3 modes, which widen the dynamic range and show more detail in both highlights and shadows.

Power, running time and mounting

Sony F970 batteries or DC 12 V

A Sony F-series battery plate sits on the back — F970, F960, F950, F930, F770, F750, F730, F570, F550 and F530. The alternative is a 12 V / 1.5 A mains adaptor into the DC input; the monitor accepts 7 to 14 V and draws no more than 11 W. No battery is included, it is bought separately.

The 8.4 V DC output (5.5 / 2.1 mm barrel) can power the camera. The dummy-battery cable is bought separately to suit the model — the manufacturer lists Sony NP-FW50, Canon LP-E6 and Panasonic DMW-BLF19. Because every camera draws a different amount, it recommends a fully charged high-capacity battery for the job.

Three 1/4"-20 threads — top, bottom and right side — hold the monitor, so it works upright as well as flat. A hot shoe mount is included; its upper part tilts through 180° and the base rotates a full 360°.
