Feelworld SC6 portable field monitor offers a crisp 5.5 inch HD display for professional video monitoring on location. Full HD 1920 × 1080, aluminium body, touch and knob

The SC6 is a field monitor for working outdoors. At 1500 cd/m² it is roughly three times brighter than an ordinary 500-nit panel, so the picture stays readable in daylight shade and against the light. The manufacturer itself groups monitors by brightness: 450–500 nits for indoors, 1000–1600 nits for outdoors and above 2000 nits for harsh sun.

There are two ways to drive it at once: touch on the display and a rotary knob with buttons. The knob earns its keep in gloves and wherever touching would nudge the rig.

SDI and HDMI, both looping through

Input and output are both dual — 3G-SDI and 4K HDMI 60 Hz — so the monitor connects to a camera with either interface and passes the signal on to a recorder or a second monitor. Over SDI it also reads time code, LTC and VITC.

On the back there is an 8.4 V DC output that can power the camera. The dummy-battery cable is not included and is bought separately to suit the camera. Note that only the DC output can power a camera; the Type-C connector cannot — it powers the monitor.

Power and running time

Sony NP-F batteries, DC or Type-C

The monitor runs on NP-F series batteries and the manufacturer quotes a figure for each: F550 (2200 mAh) about 0.9 hours, F750 (4400 mAh) about 1.8 hours and F970 (6600 mAh) about 2.7 hours. For a full day it recommends mains power through a 12 V / 1.5 A adaptor, or a power bank over Type-C.

The aluminium body carries heat away passively, so there is no fan. Mild warming during long sessions is normal; the vents should not be covered.

Sunshade and tools for the set

The shade cuts reflections and keeps the picture readable where the sun falls straight onto the display. Mounting is 1/4"-20, a shoe for the hot shoe, or a cage, rig or magic arm.

The tool set covers peaking, zebra, false colour, histogram, waveform, vector scope, check field, nine grid, safe-area and aspect-ratio markers, pixel to pixel, zoom, anamorphic de-squeeze, HDR and Rec.709. Four log conversion tables are built in (S-Log2, S-Log3, C-Log and V-Log) and up to thirty-two custom 3D LUTs can be loaded, so you see the target look on set rather than in post.
