The SEETEC WPC215 is a 21.5" Full HD director monitor permanently built into a rugged PP alloy case — dust-proof, water-proof and impact-resistant, so it travels in the same shell it works in. At 1000 cd/m² it stays readable in direct sunlight, the IPS panel is calibrated with Calman software at the factory and covers 72% of the NTSC space. It takes two HDMI sources up to 4K/30 and one 3G-SDI source and passes both on through the loop-out. Signal scopes — waveform, vector scope, histogram and audio levels — are built in, as are up to thirty-two custom 3D LUTs. Power comes from an adapter, over XLR or from two V-mount plates, and a metal bracket in the base of the case takes a tripod.

The WPC215 is not an on-camera monitor but a director monitor — a large screen the director, the camera operator and the client can all watch at once. The panel is permanently built into a PP alloy protective case: nothing needs packing before a move, it travels in the same shell it works in, and it is ready moments after the lid swings open.

The case is dust-proof, water-proof, corrosion-resistant and impact-resistant, and the monitor inside works from 0 to 50 °C. That is what makes it usable where an ordinary director monitor has no business being — in sand, in snow, on a building site or on the car park outside the venue.

A dedicated storage compartment with a metal cover sits inside on the left for batteries, cables and small accessories. The whole case measures 596 × 440 × 240 mm and weighs about 14.8 kg.

1000 cd/m² — readable in direct sunlight

The IPS panel runs 1920 × 1080 and shows 16.7 million colours (8-bit). It covers 72% of the NTSC colour space, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio holds detail in both highlights and shadows.

At 1000 cd/m² it is roughly twice as bright as an ordinary director monitor. The picture stays readable outdoors in the sun and in a bright gallery, and the brightness comes back down whenever you shoot in low light.

Every unit is calibrated with professional Calman software at the factory. You can trust the colour on it instead of guessing at it later in post.

Up to 32 custom 3D LUTs

See the target look while you shoot

A 3D LUT remaps the image into the look you choose instantly, without touching the material being recorded. Four de-log tables for camera log profiles are built in.

Up to thirty-two custom .cube files load into memory over USB and switch straight from the menu. A USB flash drive is not included.

Signal scopes without a separate instrument

Waveform, vector scope, histogram and audio levels

The monitor offers RGB Parade, YUV Parade and Y Parade waveforms, a vector scope, a histogram (RGB1, RGB2, Y) and phase and level displays for embedded audio. Each tool opens on its own or all of them open at once with a single button — so a separate scope is not something you need to buy.

On top of that: focus peaking in three colours, false colours, per-channel check field (red, green, blue, grey), over-exposure warning with an adjustable threshold, a nine grid and centre, safety and ratio markers.

Then scan mode, aspect ratio selection, anamorphic mode (1.33×, 1.6×, 2.0× and 2.0× MAG), image flip, 2× to 16× zoom, image freeze, pixel-to-pixel display and colour temperature presets of 5600 K, 6500 K and 9300 K.

Two HDMI inputs, SDI and loop-through outputs

Up to 4K UHD 3840 × 2160 at 30 Hz

The connector strip carries SDI OUT, SDI IN, HDMI IN 1, HDMI OUT 1, HDMI IN 2, HDMI OUT 2, USB 2.0 and the DC IN socket side by side. The monitor takes two HDMI sources and one 3G-SDI source and passes both on through the loop-out — to another monitor, to a recorder or to the edit suite.

Over HDMI it accepts up to 4K UHD 3840 × 2160 at 30 frames per second and 4096 × 2160 at 24 Hz; over 3G-SDI, 1080p up to 60 frames. It plugs into a cinema camera, a DSLR or a mirrorless body alike.

Audio comes from two speakers and a 3.5 mm stereo headphone output. Next to it sits a row of MENU, EXIT, F1, F2 and MODE buttons: F1 and F2 take a function of your choosing, MODE switches the source with one press, and the arrows change brightness, contrast or volume on the spot. The menu comes in eleven languages.

Power and mounting

Adapter, XLR or two V-mount plates

Power comes from a 12 V adapter through the DC IN barrel socket or through the XLR connector, which takes a 12 V / 4 A adapter. Consumption is 38 W at most.

Two V-mount plates sit on the rear panel, so the monitor runs off two batteries and lasts through a long day in the field. Batteries are not included.

There are 1/4" threads on the right side and on top of the case for a wireless video transmitter, an articulating arm or other accessories. A metal bracket is built into the base of the case, so the monitor goes straight onto a tripod or a light stand.
