The Insta360 X3 Quick Reader connects the camera to a microSD card for direct recording and gives you quick access to X3 footage in the Insta360 app on a phone. Transfer files without Wi-Fi; the X3 reader’s USB 2.0 connection reaches about 30 MB/s in reference tests. Use a UHS-I, V30 microSD card formatted as exFAT, up to 1 TB.

Record directly to the reader
With a card inserted and Quick Reader mode enabled, the X3 saves new footage to the reader’s card. The reader therefore adds recording storage without Wi‑Fi transfer. If it is disconnected during recording, the camera stops recording immediately.
Set up Quick Reader mode on X3
Open or remove the camera’s USB port cover and connect the reader to the Type‑C port. When the prompt appears, choose “Restart to use Quick Reader”. You can also swipe down, open Settings, select USB Mode and choose Quick Reader; the camera restarts to apply the setting.
Browse and edit on your phone
Connect the reader to a compatible iPhone or Android phone, open the Insta360 app, then view or edit the card’s footage there. For Android, choose the card’s directory in Quick Reader Settings on first use. A phone must support exFAT. The X3 Quick Reader uses USB 2.0 and has a reference read speed of about 30 MB/s on a phone or computer.
For an iPhone with a Type‑C port, Insta360 specifies Quick Reader firmware v3.12 or later and X3 camera firmware v1.0.93 or later; keep the app updated too.
