A diffusion filter scatters the light passing through and takes the hard edges off the picture without blurring it. Highlights around lamps and reflections bleed into a gentle glow, skin softens and the image picks up the feel of older lenses. The effect happens in the glass itself, so it responds to the real light in the scene.

The glass carries 18 anti-reflective layers and reflects only 0.6 % of the light, so no ghosting or veiling appears against the light.

White diffusion differs from black in that it lifts the shadows as well as the highlights — the picture brightens into a gentle haze and loses its hardness. It suits a backlit portrait, an orchard in blossom, or anywhere the scene should feel airy rather than contrasty.
