Softer highlights, a film look
Black Mist scatters the light around bright areas — street lamps take on a gentle glow, blown highlights soften and skin loses its digital hardness. Contrast in the deep shadows drops a little, so the picture looks more filmic straight out of the camera. Unlike an effect added in post, the diffusion follows the actual light in the scene.
Easy to clean outdoors
The surface repels water and grease, so drops run off and fingerprints wipe away without smears; the coating also stands up to cleaning in the field.
The glass carries 28 anti-reflective layers and reflects only 0.2 % of the light, so no ghosting or veiling appears against the light. The filter is the standard 4″ × 5.65″ size, so it fits matte boxes and holders from Tilta, SmallRig and other brands. It slides into the frame from the front rather than screwing onto the lens — one piece serves a whole set of optics with no step rings.
