Nano-X Magnetic — Black Mist filter 55 mm, softens the highlights and takes off digital sharpness. It suits portraits, night streets and video wherever the picture should look softer and less digital without being reworked on the computer afterwards.

The magnetic lens cap in the box attaches straight onto the filter, so the lens stays protected with the filter fitted and nothing needs screwing between shots.

Black Mist scatters the light around bright areas — street lamps take on a gentle glow, blown highlights soften and skin loses its digital hardness. Contrast in the deep shadows drops a little, so the picture looks more filmic straight out of the camera. Unlike an effect added in post, the diffusion follows the actual light in the scene.

The filter goes on magnetically — a magnetic adapter ring screws onto the lens and the filter holds itself on. A swap takes a second and nothing has to be screwed. The surface repels water and grease, so drops run off and fingerprints wipe away without smears; the coating also stands up to cleaning in the field.
