Nano-X solar filter ND100000 82 mm, takes light away so you can lengthen the exposure or open the aperture. Such strong attenuation is meant for photographing the sun and eclipses; an ordinary long landscape exposure needs a lower density filter.

For photographing the sun

The ND100000 density cuts 16.6 stops, so the direct sun can be photographed with the disc, sunspots and the progress of an eclipse visible and without blowing out the sensor.

Anti-reflective layers

The glass carries 28 anti-reflective layers and reflects only 0.2 % of the light, so no ghosting or veiling appears against the light.

A neutral density filter takes light away without touching the colours. In daylight it lets you shoot wide open with a blurred background, film at 1/50 s by the cine rule, or lengthen the exposure until water melts into mist and people vanish from the frame. The surface repels water and grease, so drops run off and fingerprints wipe away without smears; the coating also stands up to cleaning in the field.
