The Saramonic Blink500 ProX B8 is a four-channel wireless lavalier system for recording several people in the field. Four IP66 transmitters with wind protection can also record on their own to 8 GB of internal memory, and the receiver with an OLED display outputs the sound mixed or as four separate tracks. The range reaches 280 m, the transmitters and receiver run for approximately 11 hours and the charging case doubles the operating time.

IP66-rated TXR-WP transmitter

The transmitter resists dust and water to IP66, and its 6 mm condenser capsule has a wind-resistant diaphragm that also reduces handling noise. A lavalier microphone or a line source plugs into its 3.5 mm input. It weighs 30.5 g and measures 56 × 38 × 15.5 mm.

Recording in the transmitter itself

Each transmitter records approximately 14 hours of 48 kHz / 24-bit WAV audio to its own 8 GB memory. Files are split automatically every 30 minutes and transfer to a computer or phone over USB-C. When the memory is full, the oldest recordings are overwritten.

4RX receiver with an OLED display

The display shows the signal level, battery status and gain of each transmitter. Two 3.5 mm TRS outputs feed a camera, recorder, mixer or phone, and headphone volume is set from 0 to 8. The menu selects mono or stereo, two or four tracks and the Original or Vocal Boost sound mode.

11 hours per charge, 22 hours with the case

The transmitters and receiver run for approximately 11 hours, or approximately 6.5 hours with the transmitter's onboard recording switched on. The BOXMAX charging case with a 4,500 mAh battery recharges them fully once, bringing the total operating time to 22 hours.

Four separate tracks

In stereo, transmitters A1 and B1 go to the left channel and A2 and B2 to the right; A1 and A2 leave through OUT1, B1 and B2 through OUT2. The supplied SR-C2020 cable breaks them out to four XLR inputs.

Noise cancellation

Pressing the power button twice turns on noise cancellation on the transmitter, and the indicator then lights green. In line input mode, noise cancellation switches off automatically.

Microphone or line input

Holding the + and − buttons together switches the transmitter input between microphone and line level. Mic gain is set in levels 0 to 6.

Automatic channel selection

The system operates in the 2.4 GHz band and automatically hops to free channels to avoid interference and audio dropouts. Transmission latency is 9.7 ms.

Receiver charging contacts and clip

The back of the 4RX receiver carries charging contacts for the BOXMAX case and a belt clip; it can also be charged through its USB-C port. The transmitters have charging contacts too, and their USB-C port is also used to read recordings: files are named in sequence from REC-001.WAV to REC-999.WAV.

Four transmitters, a receiver and the BOXMAX case

The transmitters and receiver sit on the charging contacts in the case and are held in place magnetically. The case measures 224 × 90 × 38 mm, weighs 343.5 g and charges itself over USB-C in approximately 3 hours. The 4RX receiver also works with Blink500 ProX TX, TXQ, TXL and TXR transmitters.
