The Saramonic SR-AXM3 is a pair of compact cardioid condenser microphone capsules with an XLR output. They plug straight into an XLR input with 48 V phantom power – an audio adapter, preamp, mixer, recorder or plug-on wireless transmitter. Frequency response is 40 Hz to 18 kHz, sensitivity −35 dB and weight 60 g per capsule. The pack contains two capsules and two foam windscreens.

Capsule right on the connector
Each capsule ends in a 3-pin XLR connector, so it plugs straight into the input of a device without a cable. It measures 104 mm long and 22.9 mm in diameter.
Cardioid with a foam windscreen
The cardioid pattern picks up mainly the sound in front of the capsule and rejects the surroundings. The foam windscreen damps wind and airflow – there is one for each capsule in the pack.
For 48 V phantom power
The capsules need 48 V phantom power, supplied by camera audio adapters and preamps, mixers, recorders or plug-on XLR transmitters. Output impedance is 600 Ω.
On an audio adapter under the camera
Plugged into the XLR input of an audio adapter under the camera, the capsule picks up sound in line with the shot, without a cable. The second capsule in the pack covers the second channel.
On a plug-on transmitter
With a plug-on XLR wireless transmitter, the capsule becomes a compact wireless microphone, for example for interviews or recording sound from a distance.
