The Tilta TA-15R-12R-B is a 15 mm to 12 mm adapter rod: the thicker section sits in an ordinary 15 mm rod holder or baseplate, the thinner 12 mm section carries the DJI Focus motor. The motor from a DJI Ronin gimbal can thus be clamped on the cage into any 15 mm holder already there, without a special DJI mount. The rod is 120 mm long, weighs 19 g and is made from a single piece of aluminium alloy; an M11 internal thread at the end allows extension. Black.

The Tilta TA-15R-12R-B joins two worlds: the DJI Focus motor is built for a 12 mm rod, Tilta cages and baseplates work with 15 mm. One rod with two diameters solves it without another adapter.

Two diameters on one rod

The rod is 15 mm in diameter at one end and 12 mm at the other. The 15 mm end clamps into an ordinary 15 mm rod holder or baseplate — on the cage or on the DJI Ronin gimbal rig — and the 12 mm end carries the DJI Focus motor in position at the focus gear of the lens. Tilta makes a whole range of 15 mm rod holders (side, front and bottom of the cage), so the motor goes exactly where the lens needs it. 120 mm of length is enough for a lens on a gimbal; the longer 20 cm version is a separate variant.

Made from one piece

The rod is machined from a single piece of high-strength aluminium alloy — no joints to loosen or rotate under the motor. It weighs 19 g, so it barely changes the balance on a gimbal, and the black finish matches Tilta cages and the DJI Ronin rig.

M11 thread for extension

The end of the rod carries an M11 internal thread. It is for extension: when the motor has to sit further from the holder than 120 mm allows, another piece screws into the thread and the rod grows longer without changing the holder on the cage.

Tilta 15 and 19 mm rods

Rods are the backbone of a rig: 15 mm rods (LWS standard, 60 mm spacing) carry baseplates, follow focus, matte box, lens supports and motor mounts; 19 mm rods (studio standard, 104 mm spacing) take heavy builds with large lenses. Tilta makes 15 mm rods in aluminium, black or silver, 100–300 mm long, and 19 mm rods in stainless steel or black anodised aluminium; rods with threaded ends join end to end with a connection screw.
