The Tilta 500G Counterweight is a 500 g stainless steel weight for balancing a shoulder rig or a camera on a gimbal. A 1/4"-20 thread on the back lets the weights stack on one another, so mass is built up half a kilo at a time. It attaches to the rear of the Tilta Lightweight Shoulder Rig, to the side arm counterweight clamp or to the adapter in a quick release baseplate.

A balanced rig carries better than a light one. An extra kilo at the back often does more for the operator’s comfort than a kilo saved somewhere else.

Half a kilo that stacks

The counterweight has a 1/4"-20 thread on the back, so another one screws straight onto it — balance is built up half a kilo at a time. It attaches to the rear of the shoulder rig, to the side arm counterweight clamp or to the adapter in a quick release baseplate; it also earns its keep when balancing a camera on a gimbal.

Rods at the back and counterweights

The back carries a mount for a pair of 15 mm LWS rods to hang a battery plate or other accessories on. A battery at the back is not only a power source — it shifts the centre of gravity closer to the body and the rig becomes noticeably easier to carry. 500 g counterweights attach to the NATO rail through a small plate to fine-tune the balance.
