The Tilta 67 mm adapter ring is the link between the lens and the MB-T15 Mini Matte Box. It screws into the 67 mm filter thread of the lens and the matte box then clamps onto its outer shoulder — no rods, no baseplate. The front internal thread of the ring stays free, so a standard 67 mm circular filter screws into it as well. The ring is machined from aluminium alloy and finished in black.
The MB-T15 Mini Matte Box does not clamp onto the lens directly but through an adapter ring — it screws into the filter thread and carries the whole weight of the matte box. Tilta makes them for 52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72, 77, 82 and 85 mm; the 67, 72, 77 and 82 mm rings come with the basic matte box kit, the rest are bought separately.
The ring does not block the lens thread: at the front it has its own 67 mm internal thread that takes a standard circular filter. It can be used together with a 4×5.65″ filter in the front slot of the matte box.
