The Tilta DB-LPE6-USBC is a Canon LP-E6 dummy battery with a coiled cable ending in a USB-C plug. It sits in the battery compartment of a body or accessory that runs on LP-E6 and powers it from any USB-C PD port — a Tilta Smart V-Mount battery plate, a PD handle or a power bank. The voltage is regulated to the value of a standard LP-E6 battery, so the body cannot tell the difference.

The Tilta DB-LPE6-USBC replaces the Canon LP-E6 battery with a cable. The dummy battery has the shape and contacts of the original pack, seats in the compartment on the first try and draws its power from outside over USB-C PD. The body runs the whole shoot without a battery swap — and the Canon EOS R5 C boots with it even with no battery inserted.

The dummy battery goes into the battery compartment in place of the Canon LP-E6 pack: into Canon bodies that use this battery (EOS R5, R5 C, R6, R6 Mark II, R7), into the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and 6K, and into accessories powered by LP-E6 such as external monitors or video transmitters. The coiled cable stretches only when needed and pulls back at rest, so it stays out of the way on the cage. The construction is steel, copper, rubber and ABS plastic.

USB-C PD at the other end

The other end of the cable is a USB-C plug that goes into any port with USB Power Delivery: the Tilta Smart V-Mount battery plate, the Smart V-Mount Baseplate with ARCA mount, the Left Side PD Handle Type VIII or a power bank with a PD output. The cable negotiates the voltage it needs and regulates it to the value of a standard LP-E6 battery, so neither body nor accessory notices a difference.

For the Canon EOS R5 C it solves a problem other USB-C power options cannot: the camera will not boot over its own USB-C port without a battery inserted. With the dummy in the compartment and the PD handle, the R5 C runs the whole shoot with no internal battery.

A dummy battery has the shape and contacts of the original pack, sits in the battery compartment and brings power in by cable from outside — from a V-Mount or Gold Mount plate via P-Tap, from a USB-C PD source, over 2-pin Lemo or a DC output.
