The Tilta F970 Battery Plate V2 is a power plate for Sony NP-F (L-Series) batteries and their equivalents from other makers. Beyond the mechanical mount it offers four outputs — USB-A 5 V/2.1 A, DC 8 V/3 A, DC 12 V/2 A and an 18 W USB-C PD port that works both ways, so the battery can also be charged through it. State of charge and charging status show on an indicator on the plate itself. It weighs 120 g.
The Tilta F970 Battery Plate V2 turns an NP-F battery into a small power supply for the whole rig. Sony L-Series cells come in dozens of capacities from dozens of makers; the plate takes them all because it goes by the mount itself rather than the size of the cell.
Four outputs from one battery
USB-A gives 5 V/2.1 A, one DC output 8 V/3 A, a second DC 12 V/2 A and USB-C 18 W in PD mode. A monitor, a wireless transmitter and a follow focus motor can all run off a single NP-F battery.
USB-C works both ways
The same port doubles as an input: plug in a charger and the battery sitting on the plate charges without being removed. On the road that replaces a separate charger.
State-of-charge indicator on the plate
The indicator shows the remaining capacity and whether the battery is charging or discharging. There is no need to take it off and press the button on its side.
It will not twist or scratch
The plate is held by a 1/4"-20 screw with locating pins that tightens with a flat screwdriver or by hand. A silicone pad on the back guards against rotation and protects a cage or cheese plate.
Takes the whole NP-F range
The mount does not depend on cell size, so a small NP-F550 fits as readily as a long NP-F970 — from Sony and from other makers alike.
