The Tilta FF-T03 is a single-sided follow focus for DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and small rigs on 15 mm LWS rods. The hand wheel has adjustable damping and two adjustable A/B hard stops between which the focus puller pulls without overshooting; the 0.8 MOD gear on an adjustable base fits most lenses. The kit includes a speed crank, a 300 mm focus whip, interchangeable 0.5/0.6/0.8 MOD gears and five gear rings for photographic lenses.

The Tilta Follow Focus with Hard Stops (15mm) is a single-sided follow focus with hard stops for light builds: it mounts on 15 mm LWS rods without removing the other accessories, and fluid damping keeps the pull smooth.

Damped wheel, A/B hard stops and marking disk

The hand wheel runs in fluid damping whose resistance the focus puller sets with the damping knob to suit their hand. Two adjustable A/B hard stops define the end positions of the pull — the wheel stops on them, so the travel between two distances ends exactly and without overshoot. The positions for a particular lens are drawn on the marking disk. The open design mounts on 15 mm LWS rods without having to remove the matte box or lens support.

Lenses and kit contents

The 0.8 MOD gear meshes with the gear rings of cine lenses; for other pitches the kit includes 0.5 and 0.6 MOD gears. The adjustable base brings the gear up to a lens of any diameter, and the five gear rings in the kit wrap photographic lenses that have no teeth of their own.

The unit comes with the speed crank for long focus pulls and the 300 mm focus whip for pulling from a distance — the same parts Tilta sells separately as FH-T03 and SW-T030. The body is aluminium alloy and ABS plastic, net weight 1.3 lb (about 590 g).

Tilta follow focus

A follow focus is mechanical focusing for a camera on rods: the gear meshes with the lens gear ring and the focus puller turns the hand wheel with its marking disk.
