The Tilta Hydra Alien Mini Handheld Kit is a stabilised handheld rig for action cameras, pocket gimbals and phones up to 600 g: the hydraulically damped Hydra Alien Mini arm, a handle, a support arm adjustable in two axes, a 220 g counterweight and a soft case. The arm absorbs footsteps and jolts when running or on rough ground; with the suction cup or handlebar mount it becomes a car or motorcycle mount.

The Hydra Alien Mini Handheld Kit is the smallest rig in the Hydra Alien Mini family — the shock absorbing arm with a handle, no suction cup. It is made for the DJI Action 3/4, DJI Osmo Pocket 3, Insta360 X4/X3 and Luna Ultra and for a phone in the Khronos mount, in other words anything up to 600 g, and it belongs wherever you run, climb stairs or shoot on uneven ground. The suction cup and handlebar mount are bought separately, and the arm is then the same as in the car kits.

The damped arm in your hand

The handle bolts to the rosette of the shock absorbing arm and the rig becomes a self-contained handheld stabiliser. The hydraulic damper, filled with automotive-grade oil, absorbs the vertical shocks of footsteps that no electronic gimbal removes on its own, and the camera on top rides smoothly. The handle angle sets on the toothed rosette to suit your grip — low at your side, in front of you or overhead.

What is in the kit

The Hydra Alien Mini shock absorbing arm, the handle, the support arm adjustable in two axes (it moves the camera out or turns it to suit the shot), the 220 g counterweight that balances the arm to the camera's weight, and the 21.5 × 15.5 × 9.5 cm soft case. The shock absorbing head, suction cup and handlebar mount are not in the kit — but the arm has the same rosette as the other Alien Mini parts, so they can be added at any time.

The same arm as in the car kits

The arm is machined from aerospace aluminium alloy and carries everything from the DJI Action 3/4 through the Osmo Pocket 3 and Insta360 X4/X3 to a phone in the Khronos mount, up to 600 g in total. The oil in the damper can be topped up yourself. When you want to shoot from a car or motorcycle, add the Hydra Alien Mini electronic suction cup or handlebar mount and the rig is the same as the Car Mounting System — just with a handle on top.

The Hydra Alien Mini system

Hydra Alien Mini is Tilta's damped mount for action cameras, pocket gimbals and phones up to 600 g: a hydraulically damped arm that sticks to a car with the electronic suction cup, bolts to the handlebar of a bicycle or motorcycle, or goes handheld. The parts connect through a rosette and a 1/4″-20 thread, so one rig is reconfigured to suit the vehicle — this kit is one of them.
