The Khronos Magnetic 58mm Polarizer with Black Mist 1/2 Filter (Black) combines polarization and Black Mist 1/2 diffusion in one piece of glass. Its 58mm diameter covers all three iPhone cameras at once. The filter snaps magnetically onto the Khronos 58mm filter tray, which slides into the slot of a Khronos or Khronos Lite case for iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max — neither the tray nor the case is included.

Two things in one piece of glass

The filter carries a polarizing layer and a Black Mist 1/2 diffusion layer. They are not two settings to choose between — both act at the same time.

What the polarizer does

The polarizing layer filters out reflected light arriving at a particular angle. Reflections on glass and water disappear, you can see into a shop window, wet asphalt stops glaring. Colours gain from it: the sky darkens, foliage and paintwork get their saturation back once the white veil of reflection is taken off them.

What Black Mist 1/2 diffusion does

Diffusion works the other way: it lowers contrast a little and bleeds highlights into a gentle glow. The digital edge of the iPhone image softens, a blown highlight in the background gains a soft halo, skin looks more natural. The 1/2 strength is the middle one — clearly visible, but it will not turn the picture into fog.

58mm diameter

The 58mm glass covers all three iPhone cameras at once, so the filter still applies after switching to the ultra-wide or the telephoto. Colour rendition stays neutral, without the colour cast typical of cheap variable ND filters.

How the filter gets onto the phone

The filter does not attach to the phone directly. It snaps magnetically onto the Khronos 58mm filter tray, and that tray slides into the dedicated slot of a Khronos or Khronos Lite case. The tray is tied to the phone model — one for iPhone 17 Pro, another for iPhone 17 Pro Max. Neither the tray nor the case is included with the filter.

Do not confuse the two trays: the Khronos quick release filter tray is made for the rectangular Khronos magnetic filters (FSND, Black Mist, White Mist) and this circular 58mm filter does not belong on it.
