The Khronos multifunctional magnetic backplate is a standalone plate for the back of the phone — no case is included. It holds by MagSafe magnet, so it works on a bare iPhone 16 Pro Max as well; with the Khronos case for the same model it also locks mechanically. It offers a fold-out kickstand, a pop-out finger strap and a retractable utility knife, the corner works as a flat screwdriver and the edge carries engraved ruler markings.

The backplate is neither a case nor a kit — it is the single part that goes on the back of the phone. The MagSafe magnet holds on its own, so the plate works on any iPhone that supports magnetic accessories, including a bare iPhone 16 Pro Max with no case at all. If you own the Khronos case for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the plate also latches into it mechanically and the joint is noticeably firmer than the magnet alone.

The fold-out kickstand props the phone on a desk in portrait or landscape and switching between the two is a single move. The pop-out finger strap secures your hand when you shoot one-handed or hold the phone overhead. Both retract flush into the backplate, so the phone stays flat.

A small knife for boxes and wrap pulls out as well. The corner of the backplate is shaped as a flat screwdriver and the edge carries engraved ruler markings, so the backplate doubles as a ruler. It is made entirely from aluminium alloy.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max version is shaped for that phone; for the iPhone 16 Pro Tilta has a separate version. The matching companion for this backplate is the Khronos case for the iPhone 16 Pro Max — only that adds the locking clamps for handles, cooling, filters and lights.
