The Tilta HDA-T15-MB-TG mounting bracket is a rosette adapter that turns the joint of the Hydra Alien Mini shock absorbing arm through 90°. On the electronic suction cup or any other rosette mount, the arm can then run perpendicular to its original axis, balanced over the centre of the cup with the shot pointed where you need it. Aluminium alloy, titanium grey; the same part comes in the Alien Mini kits.

The mounting bracket for Hydra Alien Mini is a small piece of aluminium with a rosette at each end — but without it a rig on a suction cup often cannot be balanced. It turns the rosette joint through 90 degrees, and that is exactly what decides whether the arm runs along the bodywork or away from it.

A rosette turned through 90°

The bracket goes between the rosette of the shock absorbing arm and the rosette of the mount on the suction cup or handlebar. Both rosettes are toothed, so the joint holds its set angle over bumps, and because the bracket turns them through 90°, the arm can run perpendicular to its original direction — along the bonnet instead of away from it, or the other way round. The rosette is the same as on the other Alien Mini parts, so nothing combines badly.

Balance over the centre of the suction cup

A suction cup holds best when the weight of the arm sits over its centre rather than cantilevered to one side. Turning the arm through 90° gets the camera where you want it while the arm stays balanced over the cup. The bracket is aluminium alloy in titanium grey and is part of the Hydra Alien Mini kits — here it comes on its own as a spare or for a second rig.

The Hydra Alien Mini system

Hydra Alien Mini is Tilta's damped mount for action cameras, pocket gimbals and phones up to 600 g: a hydraulically damped arm that sticks to a car with the electronic suction cup, bolts to the handlebar of a bicycle or motorcycle, or goes handheld. The parts connect through a rosette and a 1/4″-20 thread, so one rig is reconfigured to suit the vehicle — this part is one of them.
