The Tilta TCB-7P-USBC-50 is a control cable for the Nucleus-M II system: a 7-pin plug (0B) into the port of the Nucleus-M II motor and a USB-C plug into the USB-C port of the camera. From the Nucleus-M II FIZ hand unit you then wirelessly start recording and, depending on the camera, change ISO, shutter speed, aperture or colour temperature. Length 50 cm; for Sony Alpha and FX, Canon EOS R, Panasonic LUMIX S and Blackmagic Pocket and PYXIS cameras with USB-C control.

The Tilta TCB-7P-USBC-50 is the most widely used control cable of the Nucleus-M II system — most mirrorless and compact cinema cameras today have a USB-C port. The motor on the rig has a free 7-pin port; the cable turns it into a control line to the camera, so the focus puller starts recording and changes exposure from the FIZ hand unit.

The 7-pin plug (0B) goes into the free port of the Nucleus-M II motor, the USB-C plug at the other end into the USB-C port of the camera. The Nucleus-M II FIZ hand unit then shows the current camera values and changes them straight from the focus wheel and buttons. The cable is straight, 50 cm long, with a ferrite core at the motor connector; it reaches from the motor on the 15 mm rods to the port on the side of the body, even through the cable clamp of a cage. Update the firmware of the FIZ hand unit and the motor before first use.

What can be controlled depends on the camera

Sony ZV-E1, ZV-E10, a7 IV, a7S III and a7R V give run/stop, ISO, shutter speed, aperture and colour temperature; FX3, FX30 and FX2 the same without shutter speed; a7C and a7R III run/stop, aperture and colour temperature. Canon R7, R8 and R5 C have all five, R6 only run/stop and ISO; Panasonic LUMIX S1, S1H and S5 run/stop, ISO, shutter speed and colour temperature. Blackmagic Pocket 4K and 6K add resolution, frame rate and AF/MF switching, 6K Pro AF/MF switching; PYXIS 6K/12K gives run/stop, ISO, shutter speed and colour temperature.

Tilta cables

The Tilta TCB cable range links camera, battery and accessories on the rig: power from a V-Mount or Gold Mount plate over P-Tap, 2-pin Lemo, 3-pin Fischer or a DC barrel connector, USB-C PD for monitors and handles, 7-pin control cables for the Nucleus system and HDMI or BNC for the picture. Lengths follow the rig — short on the cage, longer out to arms and batteries; this cable is one of them.
