The Tilta Pocket Follow Focus is a compact follow focus on a single 15 mm rod: 160 g light, yet it gives the full feel of pulling focus by hand. The wheel has fluid damping that mimics the resistance of the lens and a non-slip silicone surface. The quick-release A/B hard stops can be set and disengaged without removing them, so you pull blind between two distances.

The Tilta Pocket Follow Focus follows on from the Mini Follow Focus, but its body uses a new composite material — the mechanics are stiffer and more precise and the whole unit weighs 160 g. It clamps onto a single 15 mm rod, so it fits where a full-size follow focus cannot.

On a single 15 mm rod

The whole system clamps onto one 15 mm rod, so it fits a small mirrorless cage or a gimbal where a full-size follow focus has no room. A rod holder and a 15 × 100 mm aluminium rod are in the box, so the rig goes together straight away. The mounting angle is adjustable so the wheel falls right under your hand.

A wheel with fluid damping

The wheel’s resistance is tuned to feel like the focus ring of the lens itself. Pulling focus becomes smooth and predictable — the wheel never catches and never runs away. The silicone surface grips a wet finger and works with gloves.

Quick-release A/B hard stops

Hard stops A and B are set to two specific distances and locked. They can then be disengaged and re-engaged without being removed, so they keep their position — between the two points you pull blind and always land it. The wheel meanwhile turns a full 360°.

Interchangeable gears

The included gear is 0.8 module, the standard for most cinema lenses. For photographic lenses a seamless focus gear ring is supplied to slip over the focus ring. Gears swap out, so the rig adapts to whatever is in the case that day.

Magnetic marking discs

Distances are marked on magnetic discs that swap out scene by scene. Standard focus whips and cranks fit too, so you can extend the pull when the camera is out of arm’s reach.
