The Tilta MB-T17-WA Whip Adapter lets you change the tilt of the Mirage Pro matte box from a distance. It fits onto the MB-T17-SAA swing-away adapter and takes an ordinary follow-focus whip. Flare and ghosting can then be dialled out from behind the camera without reaching between the lens and the matte box — useful when the rig is on a tripod, on a crane or on a vehicle.

The Whip Adapter for the Tilta Mirage Pro Matte Box is a small geared part that fits onto the tilt mechanism of the swing-away adapter. It takes a whip in the size commonly used with follow focus units.

Tilt from a distance

Matte box tilt is normally set by the wheel on the swing-away adapter itself — that is, by hand between the lens and the hood. With this adapter you tilt it from a distance without reaching into the rig. That helps wherever the camera is awkward to get at: on a crane, on a vehicle, on a high tripod, or when a flag sits in front of the matte box.

Standard follow-focus whip

The adapter takes a whip in the ordinary size used by follow focus units — the whip itself is not included and is bought separately. A 2.5 mm hex key for fitting the adapter is in the box. Without the MB-T17-SAA swing-away adapter the whip adapter has nothing to work on.
