Detailné informácie

Podrobný popis

The TTArtisan AF 85mm F1.8 Neo (Nikon Z mount) is a full-frame autofocus portrait prime built around one idea: give you a fast 85mm for very little money and leave out everything else. There is no focus ring and no aperture ring — the barrel stays smooth and the camera body does the driving. At F1.8 the longer focal length separates your subject from the background the way a kit zoom never will, eye and face detection keep the focus where it belongs, and ED and high-index elements hold colour fringing in check. A straightforward portrait, street and everyday lens for Nikon Z mount mirrorless bodies.

An 85mm portrait prime without a single ring

The AF 85mm F1.8 Neo goes about it the opposite way to everyone else: no focus ring, no aperture ring, no switches. Everything is set from the camera body, the barrel stays smooth, and the lens concentrates on one job — putting a fast 85mm on a full-frame mirrorless body at a price that does not hurt.

Portrait taken at F1.8 with soft background blur

F1.8 at 85mm lifts your subject off the background

A longer focal length combined with an F1.8 aperture does exactly what people buy a portrait lens for: the background dissolves into soft washes of colour and light. Point sources behind the subject turn into round discs, the face steps out of its surroundings, and the picture gains a depth that a kit zoom stopped down to F5.6 at the same focal length simply cannot produce.

It focuses on the eye, not somewhere on the face

The lens hands full autofocus support to the camera, so eye and face detection behave the way they do with a first-party lens — the manufacturer sample shows the green box sitting exactly on the eye. At F1.8, where the sharp zone is only a few centimetres deep, that is the difference between a keeper and a deleted frame.

Perspective compression a 50mm cannot give you

Eighty-five millimetres squeezes space together: distant layers move towards each other, an avenue turns into a continuous tunnel, and the background behind your subject is optically pulled closer. It is a different reading of the same scene than a standard focal length gives — and the reason to carry an 85mm alongside a fifty.

A smooth barrel and nothing to knock

The Neo series deliberately leaves out everything that does not have to be on a lens: rings, scales and switches are all gone. What remains is a compact smooth barrel that sits well in the hand, has nothing to work loose or snag, and passes aperture and focus control to the camera. On a small mirrorless body such as the Sony A7C it keeps the whole rig pleasantly compact.

ED glass and high-index elements

The manufacturer's cross-section marks where the low-dispersion (ED) elements and the high-index elements sit in the design. The first group suppresses the colour fringing that shows up on high-contrast edges — on a backlit portrait typically along hair and shoulders — while the second helps keep the lens short without letting aberrations run away.

The manufacturer's MTF chart

The MTF chart plots contrast transfer from the centre of the frame out towards the corner, wide open and stopped down. Solid lines are sagittal, dashed lines meridional. For portraiture the left-hand side of the chart matters most — that is the centre of the frame, where the subject’s eye usually sits.

That smooth barrel is also a canvas: Neo owners print and slip on their own skins, and TTArtisan publishes a 3D model of the lens for exactly that purpose. The colourful version in the picture is one of those skins, not a product variant — it is not included in the box.
